Earthbound Bear
We're a simple couple building a homestead in Bataan, Philippines.
After years of city life, we decided to step away from the noise and build something intentional. Not a business, not a brand—just a life that feels right.
This is our field journal. The messy attempts, the small wins, the lessons learned while transforming overgrown land into a place where we can live more simply and sustainably.
If you're also drawn to a more provincial, intentional way of living, you might find something here.
Why we're here
We believe in living closer to the land, growing our own food, and building something that will last beyond our own lives. In Bataan, we found a place where we can do this work.
The vision is simple: a homestead that works with the tropical ecosystem, not against it. Where we can raise chickens, grow vegetables, plant trees, and create a home that feels like it belongs to this place.
We're not experts. We're learning as we go, making mistakes, and sharing what we discover. The land teaches us patience, the seasons teach us timing, and each day brings something new to understand.
This isn't about perfection or productivity. It's about intention, connection, and the quiet satisfaction of building something real.
Life on the land

The daily work of building a homestead: planning gardens, raising animals, and learning to work with the land rather than against it.
